National Center for Biotechnology Information:  The National Center for Biotechnology Information advances science and health by providing access to biomedical and genomic information. Website:  http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/

PubMed:  PubMed comprises more than 26 million citations for biomedical literature from MEDLINE, life science journals, and online books. Citations may include links to full-text content from PubMed Central and publisher web sites. Website:  https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/    

PubMed Health:  Provides information for consumers and clinicians on prevention and treatment of diseases and conditions.  Website:  https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmedhealth/  A special note to students:  the “Popular” or “Featured” content can be found when you scroll down the homepage.  Also, “how to read health news” can be found by clicking the “About” tab then under the section “Things you need to know,” located to the right of the page.

Taxonomy Database:  Contains the names and phylogenetic lineages of more than 160,000 organisms that have molecular data in the NCBI databases. New taxa are added to the Taxonomy database as data are deposited for them.  Website:  http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/taxonomy
