Black History Month: Home

Black History Month

February is Black History Month! In 1925, the Association for the Study of Negro Life and History (ASNLH) announced the creation of Negro History Week. The week was expanded to a month in 1976 during President Gerald Ford's administration.

This virtual display showcases just a small portion of the library's digital collections that highlight African American history, experiences, struggles to overcome adversity, achievements, contributions, identity, and culture. To find more resources, you can use OneSearch to search across all library collections, search within a specific database or eBook collection, or check out the library's streaming media services.
