Printing in the Library: Scanning

This guide provides an overview of printing, scanning, and copying in the Library

Things to know

There is no charge to scan.

When scanning books, please be aware that there are copyright and fair-use laws that must be observed.

You may only email 2MB of scanned documents, so if you need to scan more than 2MB, you will need to complete multiple scan jobs.

You may scan to a flash drive.

Scanning instructions

  1. Place the book face down onto the glass, making sure that the page is up against the upper left-hand corner of the glass.  If you have a stack of single pages, you may place them face-up into the document feeder on the top of the copier.
  2. Using the touchscreen on the copy machine, select “Scanner”.
  3. Then press the tiny “Manual Entry” tab.  Type your email address on the manual entry screen, and then press “OK”.  Alternatively, if you have recently used the device, you may press “” to retrieve your email address from a list.
  4. Press the “Start” button.
  5. If you are scanning pages individually, you will need to set up and press "Start" between each page.  The scanner will time out after 60 seconds of inactivity and send what has been scanned.
