The library is a resource to support the classes offered at Ventura College. Faculty play a vital part in the library's collection development process and are strongly encouraged to order books to support their classes.
You may request book orders by clicking the button below and filling out the form, or by emailing us or visiting us in person.
The library has access to a variety of ebook, article, and streaming media databases faculty can use for their courses. For more information, contact Linda Kennedy.

Open Educational Resources
The library has several display cases and an art hanging system installed throughout the building. If you would like to display student work or develop an informational display to accompany an event or celebration, such as Women's History Month, contact librarian Donna Roff.
Librarians offer library tours, orientations, workshops, and instruction to familiarize students with library services and resources, and prepare them for research assignments. Sessions are available for day and evening classes, online classes, VCEC classes, and student support services, and are tailored to meet the goals and needs of the class or support service. Librarians are also happy to work with faculty to develop workshops on specific topics such as information evaluation.
Librarians have also created content for Canvas that can be found in the Commons, as well as a self-directed Library Research Workshop Series that students can self-enroll in. Learn more about these options on our Library Instruction page.
To arrange for a session or learn more, contact a librarian by phone or email, or visit a librarian at the reference desk.
Reserve Textbooks
This collection is fully funded by the Ventura College Foundation to provide a free textbook alternative for students. Textbooks in this collection are for 2-hour library use, and are located at the circulation desk. Faculty can provide additional copies of textbooks to be placed on reserve for their course as well. Contact Tea Scarpine for additional information about placing faculty owned textbooks on reserve.
Faith George Lending Library
The Faith George Lending Library textbook collection was developed through donations from the Ventura College Foundation, the Re-Entry Center, faculty, classified professionals, and students. The collection is available to students on a first-come, first-served basis. Student may check out up to three textbooks for the duration of each semester. Textbooks are due back on the last day of finals.
Faculty are encouraged to donate extra copies of their current textbooks to add to the Faith George Lending Library. You may also encourage students to donate their textbooks at the end of the semester so they may help future students.
Equipment Lending Library
Students may check out Chromebooks, hotspots, and other technology from the Library Equipment Studio in LRC 220. Learn more about the available equipment on our Equipment Lending Library page.
